Payment Methods

How to add, update, or change your payment method and what to do if a payment fails.

Supported payment methods

RakuWP accepts credit and debit cards through Stripe. During the initial checkout, Stripe may also offer additional local payment methods depending on your country (such as iDEAL, Bancontact, or SEPA Direct Debit).

Updating your payment method

To update your card or payment method:

  1. Go to the Billing page in your panel.
  2. Click the Update Payment Method button.
  3. Enter your new card details in the secure Stripe form.
  4. Click Save.

Your new payment method will be used for all future charges, including subscription renewals and credit purchases.

When a payment fails

If a recurring payment fails (e.g., expired card, insufficient funds), the following happens:

  1. Your subscription status changes to Past Due.
  2. A grace period begins (typically 3 days). During this time, your subscription remains active and all services continue to work normally.
  3. Stripe will automatically retry the payment.
  4. You will see a warning banner on the billing page prompting you to update your payment method.

What happens after the grace period?

If the payment is not resolved within the grace period:

  • Your subscription is cancelled.
  • Your license is automatically downgraded to the free plan.
  • You lose access to paid services on your connected sites.

To restore your subscription, you will need to subscribe to a new plan from the billing page.

Fixing a failed payment

If you see the Past Due warning:

  1. Click Update Payment Method on the billing page.
  2. Enter a valid card with sufficient funds.
  3. Stripe will automatically retry the failed charge.
  4. Once successful, your subscription returns to Active status.
